The time is nigh!

Well, one more week to go! As every day passes I become more and more excited / freaked out that I am moving. My biggest concern is that I will leave something here unfinished or unattended. I have been pretty disorganized about my moving arrangements so I have this huge whirlwind of packing, moving, and apartment searching to do.

This week is also farewell party week! Lots of people to see and hang with before I leave and so little time for it all. This is certainly going to be a memorable week.

Once I get to Hawaii I will start uploading pictures giving a bit more of a visual blog experience to blow your minds!

Happy New Year all!

Holy Matzo Balls it's C-O-L-D!

So I know that most everyone who is reading this blog is from, or at least near, Kansas. Obviously you know how insano cold it is here right now right? I know what you're saying, you say "You have lived here all your life. You should be used to it by now so stop being a wuss! Everyone else is dealing with it." By all accounts you are quite right, I should be used to it! Well let me explain to you how cold it is to me.

If I had the choice between feeling this cold and having a few toes amputated I would strongly consider the latter. After all, I can't feel my toes anyway... It's so cold here that even my 4 layers of coats and sweaters isn't enough. It's so cold here it makes me want to punch a penguin in the face! Does that sound... wait for it... cold?? If I had my way I would seriously hibernate in my apartment until the air temperature had stayed steady at 65 or higher for a minimum for 3 weeks. Granted, half the time it is 70 in the middle of January here and then it hits -9000 the next day!

On another note my idea to get thoughtful and unique gifts has not turned out quite as well as I had wanted... Looks like another round of gift cards and crappy not-so-awesomes for all of those loved ones! Time keeps flying by and every year I look up to see that it is the 23rd and then Christmas has come and gone in no time flat. I distinctly remember the Christmas season taking every bit of eternity. Anticipation is one thing, but can that really account for all of it? I am chalking most of it up to not stopping and actually enjoying the holiday season. I must find a remedy for this, as I recall this being my favorite time of the year for some reason or another...

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everyone! You deserve to take a break from the so called "real life" and enjoy being a gluttonous, slothfull bag of Christmas cheer!

A daunting realization

I am sitting at PT's hanging out on my day off and I am suddenly struck with the knowledge that Jan. 5th is coming faster that I had thought! I usually don't look at calendars much, and I think I know why. Christmas is only two weeks away, then New Years, then I'm gone... I guess it's time to get packing and finish sorting through all of my crap.

This makes me think to myself: "What do I have?" "Is there anything I need to bring that is a significant representation of myself?" Probably not. I just have a bunch of clothes and books. Not that my possessions should define me, but I mean it seems a bit sad.

Eh, enough self analysis. I have never been very good at buying Christmas gifts ahead of time, but this year I am wanting to get thoughtful gifts as well as saving money. Unfortunately this means that I actually have to start getting a handle on these gifts now as opposed to Christmas eve. Sooo now I have even more to mess with than before! Any suggestions? Time to scramble...

Ahhhhh winter....

Here I am, sitting at work with little to do on my break. Muzak has a wonderful feature so that if for some reason it loses signal it plays the last 3 songs in a loop preventing a stop in music. This of course means that I haven't had signal for the past 3 days, and so I sit here listening to the same 3 songs I have heard non-stop for the past 3 days. It's like the trinity of monotony. Watch out Link, this triforce will own your face.

I was talking to Holly the other day about my bacon fever and we came to the conclusion that if the stars were to line up just right and the were a convergence of bacon, smoking, and World of Warcraft a portal could open up into what we coined "Bacon Heaven". Of course I would have to substitute beer for the smoking part, but what a wonderful place that would be.

Imagine, if you will, a place where a bacon dog can frolic in the smokey pork-tipped azaleas with the bacon blue jays singing a bacony song of joy all while I sit in my fat-back leather recliner sipping a frothy beer and owning fools on World of Warcraft. Could a better version of heaven exist? Well of course all of my friends and family could be there.

Plans have been put in motion to bring all of the elements together and who knows, maybe, just maybe, I will end up in a salty, pork-filled nirvana. The best part about bacon heaven is that everything is good for you! No more worrying about artery clogging, liver killing foodstuffs that don't provide nutritional value. Welcome to Bacon Heaven!

That is all

Allow myself to introduce...me

Greeting happy blog readers,

Since I know no one ever really read any of my previous "blog" attempts I figure I should warn you: I have been notoriously bad about updating blogs in the past. That said, since I am going to the (whateverthehellHawaiiiscalled) State I figure I should at least put forth some effort on keeping my friends and family up to date. If you are not a friend nor family I really don't know what to tell you other than you get what you get.

At this point I am just over 1 month from my flight to Hawaii. What does this mean? Well, I have no freaking clue. I have been stuck in a rut lately and have felt like I am doing little more than existing. One thing that has kept my attention is BACON! Don't get jealous now beer, you are still my homey too. For more information regarding my bacon escapades you should check Holly's blog out.

That is all for now, I will be posting again soon. I "promise"

Pete
